Lagoon 55

Day one, next level

Some boats take you places. Others change you entirely.

For Patrick and Babette Janssen, their Lagoon 55 is far more than a catamaran. It's a place to reconnect — with yourself, with the ones you love, and with what truly matters.

A space for transmission. And above all, the beating heart of Day One: their exclusive wellness retreat concept, designed to help guests rediscover their best selves — for good.

A life shaped by the sea

Both from sailing families, Patrick and Babette grew up with the rhythm of North Sea harbours and family voyages running through their veins. The sea was never a hobby — it was a given. Starting out on small boats, they gradually moved to larger and larger vessels as their family grew.

From the North Sea to the English Channel, then southward through Europe and into the Mediterranean — Spain, the Balearics, Ibiza — they spent years exploring, living, and sailing.

But as their three children became adults, a new question emerged: how do you keep travelling together without sacrificing comfort, privacy, or family balance?

An unexpected encounter with Lagoon

Patrick and Babette had always imagined themselves on a large monohull. Catamarans? They weren't sold. Too far from the sailing culture they'd grown up with.

Then one day, almost by chance, they stepped aboard a Lagoon. Then a second. And finally, a Lagoon 55.

"Everything we saw, touched, felt… was beyond what we'd imagined."

What struck them straight away:

  • Four proper cabins, each conceived as a genuine suite.
  • Bright, generous living spaces.
  • A natural, intuitive flow throughout the boat.
  • Multiple areas to be together — or to find your own solitude.
  • A sense of quiet luxury, never overdone.

The Lagoon 55 was the clear choice. A next level moment, as they put it — for their lives, their family, and everything they were building.

Day One: far more than a wellness retreat

For years, Patrick and Babette have been working with some of the Netherlands' most prominent personalities — executives, artists, athletes, and public figures — helping them rediscover their physical and mental best.

Their approach is radically different:

  • No diets.
  • No quick fixes.
  • No empty promises.

Day One is a holistic method built around intelligent nutrition, understanding how the body changes after 35, tailored movement, sleep, breaking free from addictions — sugar, alcohol, toxic habits — and above all, education and lasting autonomy.

"Day one, or one day. You decide."

On board a catamaran, the impact is amplified tenfold. There's nowhere to hide. No temptations. No escape routes. The sea creates a bubble. The boat becomes a cocoon.

A perfectly complementary duo

On board, each has their role.

Patrick handles navigation, big-picture thinking, coaching, and physical programming.

Babette takes care of nutrition, cooking, culinary workshops, and food education.

The Lagoon 55's galley has become their playground: generous counter space, smart storage, multiple refrigerators, a freezer, an ice maker — everything designed to craft a gastronomic experience that is wholesome, indulgent, and inspiring.

"It's even better than our kitchen at home."

The Lagoon 55: a catalyst for emotion

What Patrick and Babette remember most about the Lagoon 55 isn't a spec sheet. It's a feeling.

  • The flybridge, offering a commanding, almost regal vantage point.
  • The cockpit — vast, sheltered, welcoming.
  • The variety of living spaces, where everyone finds their own corner.
  • Full water and energy autonomy, meaning true freedom.
  • The ride — fast, smooth, and reassuring.

"The first time I overtook a monohull from the flybridge, I felt like I owned the sea."

A family pride, above all

When asked what they're most proud of, the answer comes without hesitation: their family. Sailing new waters, on a new boat, all together, as a team. Watching each person find their place, step up, adapt.

And then there's the recognition that means something extra: their win at the Lagoon photo competition — a testament to a genuine, passionate bond with their catamaran.

In three words? If they had to sum up the adventure, it would be simple:

Next level.

Next level for the body.

Next level for the mind.

Next level for life at sea, together.
