Whether you're setting out for a day trip or embarking on a multi-day crossing, and regardless of your sailing destination, we've designed Lagoon catamarans to ensure your comfort is always part of the journey.

Architecture and design, technical choices, onboard equipment... In this article, you'll discover that nothing has been left to chance: our teams have thought of everything to make your sailing experience simpler, safer, and more comfortable. Ultimately, so you can enjoy it to the fullest!

Sailing comfort: a matter of design

First, there's the architecture, design, and ergonomics of our catamarans: they play a crucial role in your wellbeing, the safety of your voyages, and the sense of serenity onboard.

The helm station location

At the heart of your sailing experience, the Lagoon helm station is ergonomic and designed to provide optimal visibility—of the sails when you're piloting a wind-powered catamaran, of the horizon, and of your destination!

The height and clearance offer breathtaking views in any situation. On your catamaran, you can anticipate every situation and maneuver. You're also always protected from both sun and spray.

On the larger sailing models—the Lagoon Sixty 5 and Lagoon Eighty 2—the dual helm station allows you to choose your position for sailing and maneuvering in complete comfort, depending on weather conditions or wind angle, for example.

The Various Navigation Controls

Onboard a boat, comfort also depends on control management.

On our sailing catamarans, from the Lagoon 38 to the Lagoon Eighty 2, halyards and sheets are led back to the helm station. This allows you to manage the entire rig from a single point, possibly single-handed or with a reduced crew, always safely, comfortably, and smoothly. The winches are within easy reach and available in electric versions to reduce the effort required.

The Lagoon 55, Lagoon 60, Lagoon Sixty 5, Lagoon Eighty 2, and the motor catamaran Lagoon Eighty 3 also feature remote controls: management is then possible from any point on the boat.

Deck Circulation

For safety and comfort onboard, we know that movement on your catamaran's deck is a key factor. That's why, aboard our boats, you benefit from more than just stability!
On Lagoon catamarans:

  • Access to the cockpit is direct
  • Walkways are wide
  • Handrails are continuous
  • Guardrails are high and solid around the entire perimeter of the deck

Thanks to this, movement is pleasant, quick, and risk-free.

On all our boats, the layout of maneuvering points is also designed to limit movement and ensure everyone's safety. To avoid any interference, on the larger models, maneuvering areas are separated from relaxation and social spaces.

You enjoy total control and optimal comfort in all conditions!

Onboard Maneuvering Assistance Equipment

Tools to Facilitate Maneuvers and Reduce Effort

Regarding the equipment itself, from one Lagoon catamaran model to another, we offer a wide range of tools that assist with maneuvering.

These reduce physical strain and can facilitate sailing with a reduced crew:

  • Self-tacking jib: eliminates the need to ease and trim with each tack change, and facilitates tacking. It comes standard on new Lagoon 42 Millennium and Lagoon 43 models, and as an option on all larger new catamarans.
  • Electric winches: available as standard on the Lagoon Eighty 2 and as an option on all other models, allow you to hoist or adjust sails effortlessly.
  • Mainsail furler: always for smoother sailing, is optional equipment for all catamarans in our range, starting from the Lagoon 46 Iconic.
  • Bow thruster: on large yachts such as the Lagoon Sixty 5, Lagoon Eighty 2, and our motor catamarans, facilitates marina approaches and departures.
  • Joystick control: also offered on these models, serves the same purpose.

Lagoon Navigation Systems

Autopilot: An Essential Assistant

Whatever the distance to cover, whether coastal sailing or offshore, the autopilot is often a full-fledged crew member. From the perspective of the onboard experience, it reduces fatigue and frees up time to monitor the weather, adjust sails, or simply enjoy life at sea.

We had every good reason to integrate it into the multifunction displays and panels of our latest models!

Instruments for Greater Visibility

To ensure you can sail in peace, Lagoon multifunction displays and panels always centralize essential information. We cultivate your onboard serenity through uninterrupted access to all data:

  • Your GPS position
  • Your heading
  • AIS
  • Boat speed
  • Depth
  • Wind direction and strength
  • Water temperature...

Starting with the Lagoon 46 Iconic catamaran and on larger recent models, information can also be displayed simultaneously on multiple screens: at the helm station and at the chart table. The entire crew has access to the same information in real time.

Finally, as an option on all recent Lagoon sailing models and integrated as standard aboard our largest catamarans, radar is another instrument we particularly recommend: it will allow you to navigate in reduced visibility, safely and confidently.

Resource Management Onboard During Navigation

Energy Production and Storage to Power Equipment

To sail comfortably on a motor or sailing catamaran, you must also be able to fully enjoy life onboard in the boat's various spaces.

For this, two resources in particular are essential:

  • Fresh water – for your health, hygiene, cooking, and onboard life in general.
  • Adequate electrical capacity – to power instruments and equipment, lighting, autopilot, and communication systems.
