A few weeks ago, in the depths of winter for some, they were able to enjoy a few days of relaxation and sunshine, sailing to a dream destination: the Bahamas.
Lianna (@thisworldmyview), American content creator, she is passionate about travel and idyllic destinations. Environmentally conscious, she also has a strong attraction to the world of sailing and loves scuba diving. Tyson (@tysonsadler), on the other hand, is a snorkeler and film director. Alfonso (@fonsidiventures), also a diver, and Sarah (@sarahteng), a photographic artist, were also part of the crew.
Just a few hours’ sail from Nassau, the Exumas have everything you could want from a trip to the Bahamas: perfectly clear turquoise water, incredible marine life and a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
Lianna and her friends began by sailing to Allens Cay, starting out from Palm Cay Marina. Later, they were able to watch a magnificent sunset after seeing sharks and iguanas during their visit to Leaf Cay, marking the end of a marvelous day.
The following morning, they weighed anchor and headed off to dive at Normans Cay, the spot where Pablo Escobar’s famous airplane wreck lies on the sand, creating a most surprising and unusual seabed feature. They rounded the day off with dinner aboard the catamaran.
The journey continued at Shroud Cay where the scenery is even more fabulous than before, between a river crossing the mangroves, sandbanks, a natural pool that is the deepest of blues, and a beach extending to the sea. This made the perfect opportunity for our travelers to get out the paddleboards and check out this little corner of paradise. Next, they sailed to Bell Island where they dropped anchor, and after a peaceful night on board, they headed for O'Brien Cay.
During their morning swim, there was no shortage of exotically colored tropical fish and beautiful coral. After a short visit to Johnny Depp's island, they headed to Compass Cay, known to be the haunt of (harmless) nurse sharks. Lianna reminds us, “Every time you’re in the water or immersed in an animal's natural home, treat it as you would a friend's home, be respectful and mindful of how you make your presence known, and make sure you leave it in a better state than you found it!” They then spent the night at Little Pipe Creek.
The following morning, they anchored off Big Majors Spot to swim and bathe among the island's famous wild pigs – a rare and precious moment. The day continued with a visit to Thunderball Grotto, a natural cave much loved by snorkelers and divers. A dreamy place where you could easily lose track of time.
The group of friends spent their final night of the trip at Pipe Cay, a perfect place to admire one last sunset, before returning the next day to the Palm Cay Marina where they would leave the catamaran.
The week will remain forever engraved in the memory of our travelers. Lianna describes this adventure as memories she will keep for life: each one more beautiful than the last, each day was filled with a feeling of tranquility, peace and serenity.
