World Ocean Day: Lagoon Commits to Coral Reefs

Every year on June 8th, the entire world celebrates the Ocean. For Lagoon, this occasion is far more than a date on the calendar: it is an opportunity to remind ourselves why protecting the seas we sail is at the heart of our mission.

In 2026, World Ocean Day shines a spotlight on the urgent need to create and strengthen marine protected areas across the planet. A global call to action — one that resonates especially deeply for a brand whose owners sail every day at the heart of these ecosystems.

Protecting the Ocean: A Real Commitment, Not a Slogan

Coral reefs are home to nearly 25% of the world's marine biodiversity, yet they cover barely 1% of the ocean floor. And yet, 50% of them have already disappeared due to climate change, pollution and overfishing.
Entire ecosystems — and the human communities that depend on them — are at stake.

Faced with this reality, Lagoon has chosen to join forces with Coral Guardian, a French non-profit organisation founded in 2012, specialising in the protection and restoration of coral reefs, with active projects in Indonesia, the Mediterranean and Kenya.

For every catamaran delivered, a donation is made to the organisation, directly contributing to coral replanting in areas identified as priorities. To date, more than 5,000 corals have been restored through this partnership, particularly on the Hatamin reef, at the heart of the Indonesian Coral Triangle.

To Sail is Also to Preserve

"As the world leader in catamarans, we have a responsibility to take concrete action to protect the oceans," says Thomas Gailly, Managing Director of Lagoon. "Our community of owners sails to every corner of the globe. They are proud to be part of a brand that is committed — and that reflects their own values."

This commitment is part of a broader CSR initiative called Sailing for Change, which encompasses the entire lifecycle of the boat: bio-sourced resin, 80% recycled fibreglass on the EIGHTY 2, production sites certified ISO 14001 and ISO 50001, onboard solar panels, an eco-responsible kit delivered with every catamaran, and the NEO refit programme to extend the life of existing models.

Adopt a Coral — Take Direct Part in Reef Restoration

On the occasion of World Ocean Day, Lagoon invites its community to go further by directly supporting the field work carried out by Coral Guardian.

Through the "Adopt a Coral" programme, everyone can contribute to coral reef restoration by helping to fund the planting and monitoring of new corals in vulnerable areas.

A meaningful, concrete gesture to preserve marine biodiversity, support local communities, and protect the playgrounds of all sailing enthusiasts.
